Biography

Patricia Toledo is regarded by directors and colleagues as a singing actress of great depth possessing a “charismatic stage presence”. She began her operatic studies at the age of 20 and was accepted to Lawrence University's Conservatory of Music. Engagements have included the title role in Madama Butterfly with Opera Fort Collins and as Eleanor of Aquitaine in Carlisle Floyd’s one-woman opera Flower and Hawk with Long Leaf Opera. Ms. Toledo’s Eleanor was hailed as "riveting" and "impressive" (Marvin J. Ward, CVNC). Other operatic roles include the Virgin Mary in Conrad Susa’s The Wise Women and Papagena in The Magic Flute.

As a concert soloist, Ms. Toledo has sung Rutter’s Requiem and Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb and has performed as an ensemble member with Greensboro Opera, Triangle Opera, Light Opera Works, Madison Symphony Chorus, and Madison Opera’s Opera in the Park.

Ms. Toledo holds a B.M. in performance from Lawrence University Conservatory of Music, WI and a M.M. in performance from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She studied acting with B.K. Siewerth and William R. Ditton and has performed several leading roles in theatre and musical theatre productions including Minnie in The Match Maker, Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors, Polly Peachum in Three Penny Opera and Catherine in Pippin.

Ms. Toledo lives the Chicago area with her husband, where she teaches voice at the Schaumburg Academy of Music and privately at John Hersey High School in Arlington Heights. Her students have done well performing at such venues as The American Girl Show downtown Chicago, IMEA Honors Choir, local jazz clubs, and as leads in several musicals in greater Chicagoland. Ms. Toledo is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing as well as a board member of the Northwest Chapter of the Lyric Opera. She is a classical student of both Georgia State University’s mezzo-soprano Kathryn Hartgrove and Metropolitan Opera soprano Julia Faulkner and she is a contemporary commercial singing student of Randy Buescher.
